Welcome

Welcome to JonGerlachPhotography.com. I hope you enjoy your visit and find just what you're looking for.

Be sure to check out the Gallery for new pieces. I often bring home unique and thought-provoking photographs from my country walks.

All of the pieces you will see here are genuine limited edition Fine Art Prints, individually hand-signed, dated and numbered by the artist, and each piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

To keep your costs down while giving you flexibility to frame my artwork if you choose, each piece is delivered to you as a gallery wrapped canvas mounted on a 1.5" or 2" stretcher frame. This lets you acquire an original limited edition Fine Art Print that is ready to hang, at a reasonable price.

These pieces are easy to frame by visiting your local frame shop, although many people prefer the clean lines of an unframed gallery wrapped canvas.

The edges of each canvas are printed in a color chosen by the artist to harmonize with the hues of the image, rather than having a portion of the image "wrap around" the edges. The canvas is securely stapled to the back of the stretcher frame, while hardware and wall cushions are pre-installed for immediate display.

A Fine Art Print from JonGerlachPhotography.com makes a beautiful addition to your home or office.

Thanks for stopping by. Please let me know if you have any questions.

About the Artist

Jon fell in love with photography in 1975 when he received two high school graduation presents from his grandmother: a used SLR camera and a brand new ten-speed bicycle. Finding himself on the road — with camera in hand — he majored in art history and anthropology at college. There he accepted an appointment as a field photographer in the University of Pittsburgh's archaeology program. Later he directed archaeological projects for the Illinois State Museum and Arizona State University. Photography remained his passion while completing both his master's and doctorate degrees.

Over the years, Jon's documentary photographs have appeared widely in video, print and online media depicting the study and conservation of natural and historic treasures in the USA and worldwide.

A Virginia native, Jon is happiest exploring the bucolic woods and Civil War battlefields of his beloved commonwealth. A retired archaeologist, active conservationist, sometimes-poet, historian and National Park Service volunteer, Jon makes his home in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
